woe is me, woe is me

over the last few days my computer has been acting up. Ever since I bought the new RAM everything is on the fritz and has been testing my patience and ability to dive deep into Advanced settings tabs and BIOS…. uhhg.  So until I can resolve the issue of my comp randomly crashing into the blue flames of computer hell WAR beta will have to wait until I can tackle this issue. On a last note, I have not checked yet to see if my motherboard can actually support 4 GiGs of ram and I hope that is not the issue :(

Round 2 comming up next…

The RAM can be a bitch in stability. Sometimes it make things better, sometimes worse. Best is to buy the same type of RAM that’s already in the computer, and yes, as you said, check if the motherboard support it ;)

Maybe the new RAM requires more power, and your power supply isn’t meeting the demand?

It could have ben either one. I let my comp idle all day to see how it responded with 4Gb. It had no problems at all untill I start firing up programs late night. based on this i didn’t think power was an issue.

So my next move was to remove one stick. It ran like a champ after that . I looked up my motherboard…. low and behold it only supports 3Gb -.- All that headache! –::quickly runs to comp store and exchanges the 2Gb for a 1Gb::– BOOM BOOM pew pew :D I’m in Beta.

4GB of RAM is not yet standard on mainboards (or at least it wasn’t as of a year ago…these things do change). It is possible your board isn’t cool with tha tmuch memory.

When shopping for memory, you should *always* consult your board’s manual first. And then google the board. =) Revert back to your old RAM and see if the problems persist. Also, try reseating your RAM. 4GB needs a lot of power; how bit is your power supply? What else is in your system?

If you want my honest opinion, head over to WHA and hit the tech forum. I bet Nerror or someone like him will save you.
