So preview weekend is up, the NDA is down and the WHA class forums fill with guides, questions, and number crunching. Class balance is one of everyones fears as it seems and cries of OP, underpowered, and even going as far as comparing “armies of war” class descriptions to 3 days of Tier 1-2 beta experiences and speak as if they know more on the subject then dev teams at Mythic. All this time I generally believed the WHA community was a bit more respectable then that. As a personal opinion, I could care less if <insert class here> is equal to <insert class mirror> and balance issues should ONLY be compared by a faction basis i.e.
All 10 Order classes Vs All 10 Destruction classes working together: can put out X amount of damage, has Y amount of AoE roots/snares , mitigates Z damage , etc., etc.
To put this in another way, think of the factions as a single organism and not as left arm, right arm, left leg, right leg, tail, torso, and head. Order’s Head is larger but destruction’s right arm is longer to compensate! Boiling classes down and viewing them under a microscope will of course make them look irregular and out of place. This is the only logical way of looking at balance, in my eyes.

I’m finding the number crunching as off-putting as ever, mind you, I do find myself drawn to the Rune Priest threads.. whether they change my mind over masteries or not.

I really enjoyed the small bit of play I had with the Runepriest, so much that I’ll have one as my Alt!
