Howdy fellas!

This poor poor lonely blog hasn’t been updated so I’ll take a minute, and log out.  Dark Crag is a bit funny, Destruction has got us outnumbered/ranked by more then a few and continues to dominate all of T3 and T4 (some of T4 is locked into order control for lack of players yet to reach cap). The good part about this is that when we do have a few good men online we run some smash a grab runs to take over a zone and usually start to see some destruction pour in once we have already took out a the last lord of the zone and run some defense until 50+ destro show up ranging from R20-40. Needless to say holding a keep and even getting back to a keep after death proves to be a very difficult challenge :D .  I have to say I am really impressed with the RvR lakes it is just to bad that Order/destro tend to neglect this area due to better means of leveling/renown via scenarios and PvE questing, it is really a shame!

At the moment I have leveled completely from Scenarios and RvR quests and Currently a rank 31/31Engineer following the path of Grenadier.  Now I know if any of you have been following WHA Engi forums… you have already switched mains after cursing your laughable dmg,hp, and armor factor, believe me I’m in the same boat. Sure, I can focus mainly on throwing out damage and rank near the top rivaling with the rest of the DPS classes except for the ranged Bright wizards (apposed to the melee suicidal not-worth-healing BWs) but that means I am focused 100% on killing and I don’t spend much if any time worrying about objectives or using our CC moves.  I’m trying to find that niche of play that Engineers excel in because it certainly isn’t high consistent damage or burst damage. Right now, I put our healers as my top priority, I’ll drop my turret near our healers and let them know if they want protection to stand right on top of it.  This does a few great things for the team  first it hides the turret from being obliterated, and second If any witch elfs pop or a melee zerg rushes I will not hesitate to use Self Destruct  (–AoE  5 second knockdown–) followed by a strafing run or frag grenade, followed again by a concussion grenade or land mine (this depends on the amount of players attacking and my range from the turret) Running this combo will effectively stop any onslaught and allow healers to focus on doing their job.

Moving on, I have heard of quite a few people having choppy/lag issues with Nvidia cards and AMD processors and I currently run both. I upgraded to a Nvidia 9600 AMP! edition and still have a bit of bottleneck with my AMD Athalon 2.0 GHz dual core and unfortunately it is restricted from Overclocking.  I might wipe Vista from this computer and run XP but I’m unsure that will provide at least 30% boost in performance that I’m looking for. The other option is to pick up a new motherboard and processor overclocked to 3.0 GHz  for around 200 USD for about a 50% boost in processor performance. I have some great Ideas for Videos but I won’t film until I’m running full effects and lag free ><.

Cheers!

It may be a while.

Howdy yall,

I got to say that I am not satisfied with my specific Engineer footage to deliver a quality video.  Although, I just picked up some new editing software and just might be able to pull a gem out of these buttocks. One of the reasons excuses I have is … I lagged, a decent amount too while taking on keep lords and other mobs in small areas. It was pretty bad in Closed Beta( I believe the debugger running  was reason for most of it) but I have room to improve(down with itunes, firefox, and seeding)  and here is something I can give you

Army of Engi’s

August 20, 2008 · Leave a Comment

Howdy yall,

I wanted to update my activities , knowlege of Engineers, and give my opinion on the current “sate of game” they are in. The past few days I have been running a ton of RvR with the guild. We focused our efforts on Tier 2 RvR zones and I have to say it’s the real deal. To my surprise I’m somewhat overwhelmed with the amount of abilities this class will eventually have at his and her (yup, female dwarfs armed to the teef with explosives….scary) disposal. I was wondering what RDPS (Range Damage) would feel like in the battles and there isn’t enough i could type to fully explain the amazing terrain snipe spots, spell animations, and how unique each player model really is. The game does a real good job in the immersion play department. I will dive in a bit to into each spec li…err mastery path.

Engi Specing basics

I also hope all of the Engineer hopefuls have got a chance to check out our Career Mastery Page. These masteries are awarded after Specing into each of the three paths: Rifleman, Grenadier, and Tinkerer. As is, we have 25 points to spend on our masteries (an additional 5 points are awarded from Renown Ranks) and each path is 15 points + 3 tactics + 3 abilities + 1 morale ability totaling 22 points.

RIFLEMAN

  • This path will boost damage output for our core abilities.
  1. Gun turret
  2. Hip Shot
  3. Incendiary Rounds
  4. Focused Fire
  • The focus of this path is to effectively rain damage down on the enemy(s) from with-in the 100ft range (sorry EU I would vote for metric system) Using AoE’s , DoTs, and DD abilities. This is a very focused path used for picking out those weakened, squishy back playas, single targets and generally obliterating the sad soul you targeted.

Grenadier

  • This path will boost these core abilities
  1. Bombardment Turret
  2. Powder Bomb
  3. Flashbang Grenade
  4. Fragmentation Grenade
  5. Acid Bomb
  • The focus of this path is more geared toward Aoe damage, aliments, and debuffs. Grenadiers will prove worth utterly destroying and manipulating the front lines of the battle.

Tinkerer

  • again, adding to these core abilites
  1. Friction Burn
  2. Land Mine
  3. Flame Turret
  4. Blunderbuss Blast
  • If your looking to ride in with Tanks and be close enough to smack an enemy upside the head with your monkey wrench… look no further. The Tinkerer gets the unique ability of a Brew inspired pbAoE HoT. (I know huge acronym, maybe its better to say It’s an area heal for comrades fighting along side of you) also find additional Turret abilities and LOTS of point blank area damage.

Featured, in the latest WAR traileryou will see Engi’s blastin’ Orcs and enjoying a stien! Engineers are definitely a class dropping heads when skillfully played. And since I didn’t get any questions yet to answer, I am still willing.

P.S.

over the next few Days/Weeks till launch, the Negative Burnpublic forum will be expanding. Any players and guilds may join up and interact the nB Community and nB alliance. These forums will provide a great hub for Order players, I encourage players to sign up and contribute! nB will be taking apps for new recruits and Guilds that wish to create a band along side of Negative Burn.

Cheers!

Engineer, how many tricks do you have?

August 7, 2008 · Leave a Comment

I dare you to cross this line.

————————

Once we got inside[the keep], I had my best moment of the day. We made short work of the NPCs on the lower level and charged up to the second floor to kill the keep master only to get blown back — I mean literally blown back — by a group of Dwarven engineers who had set up turrets and were throwing grenades. Call it a Team Fortress 2 flashback, but the realization that I had just gotten cut down by a gun turret constructed by a dwarf was easily the most surreal experience I’ve had in quite a while. Even better (or worse from our standpoint) those damned dwarves and the other Order player then proceeded to hold us at the stairwell using a combination of tanks to block and lots more grenades. All credit to whoever was playing Order last night. You held it together against a force of superior numbers and managed to drive us back. You have my respect until next time.

I have always been a fan of defending and laying traps :D Be it luring a group of players into an ambush, dropping AoE spells on a choke point, or running flanks. The combo of land mines, grenades, turrets, my Rifle, and my cranium are going to have a large amount of fun together.

strangely fitting Will Ferrel quote ” I PLAY FOR KEEPS!, I PLAY FOR KEEPS!”
